How we use information
- Provide accounts, search, comparisons, saved work, and subscriptions.
- Process transactions and apply the correct access tier.
- Understand and improve search results, filters, and product features.
- Respond to questions and provide support.
- Detect, investigate, and prevent errors, fraud, scraping, and abuse.

Cookies and local storage
We use required cookies to keep you signed in, maintain account security, remember access, and protect the service from abuse. We also use browser local storage to remember workspace choices such as shortlisted, hidden, and compared programs.
Product analytics, when enabled, are cookieless. You can block or clear cookies and local storage in your browser, but sign-in and saved workspace features may stop working.
Analytics and diagnostics
We may use cookieless product analytics to record limited events, such as a search, filter, program view, shortlist action, registration, or checkout. These analytics events do not build an identified profile and do not include your name, email address, saved notes, or free-text search query.
Separately, our server keeps the search records described above so we can audit and improve search quality. We also use error-monitoring tools to diagnose failures. We limit and redact sensitive information sent through diagnostic tools where designed to do so.
How we share information
We share information with service providers that help us operate the service, such as hosting, database, authentication, payment, analytics, and error-monitoring providers.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect people or the service, to investigate fraud or abuse, or as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of the business. Service providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live.
Retention and security
We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain security, meet legal and accounting requirements, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Retention time depends on the type of information and why we need it. We may keep de-identified information that no longer identifies you.
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. No Internet service or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal information. You may also have the right to object or receive a portable copy. Contact us to make a request. We may need to verify your identity, and some information may be kept when required by law or for legitimate security, accounting, or dispute purposes.
You can clear locally stored workspace information through your browser controls. You can stop cookieless product analytics by using browser tools that block the analytics service.
Children
Grad School Navigator is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service or law changes. We will post the revised policy and change the date above. If a change materially affects your rights, we will provide reasonable additional notice.
