Australian Catholic University

Australian Catholic University is a public university with a Catholic identity, formed in 1991 by amalgamating Catholic colleges of education and nursing in several states. Principal campuses are in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, and Ballarat, with a campus in Rome. It is a multi-campus national university rather than a single nineteenth-century original.

Faculties cover education and arts, health sciences, law and business, and theology and philosophy. Graduate work concentrates on teaching, nursing and allied health, social work, theology, and business. Research homes include the Institute for Religion and Critical Inquiry and centres in health and education.

About 32,000 students enroll across campuses, including a large postgraduate coursework population and international students from the Asia-Pacific and beyond. Faculty number in the low thousands. Alumni are numerous in Australian teaching, nursing, and Catholic education leadership.

Graduate study is mainly coursework master's and professional doctorates, with some PhDs under Australian higher-degree-by-research rules. The calendar is two semesters, with some trimester professional programs. Commonwealth-supported places and university scholarships exist for research students. Daily life is campus-specific: inner-urban Sydney and Melbourne sites differ from Ballarat and the Rome study centre.

In the Grad School Navigator directory, Australian Catholic University lists 1 master's program, in philosophy.
