About Centre for Digital Media
The Centre for Digital Media in Vancouver is a graduate professional school opened in 2007 by the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, Emily Carr University of Art and Design and the British Columbia Institute of Technology. It occupies the Great Northern Way Campus in the Mount Pleasant district and is not a full university on its own.
Its degree is the Master of Digital Media, a project-based professional master's covering games, interactive and visual media, and related digital production. Industry partners in Vancouver's film, games and technology sector supply projects and mentors. There are no undergraduate or doctoral programs at the school.
Cohorts are small, typically under 100 students, mixing Canadian and international students. Teaching staff and mentors come from the four partner institutions and from local studios.
The MDM is a coursework and team-project degree lasting about 16 months. Students work in studios at Great Northern Way and in Vancouver's digital-media firms, in a professional-school setting rather than a research-lab model.
In the Grad School Navigator directory, Centre for Digital Media lists 1 master's program.
