Ontario Tech University is a public university in Oshawa, Ontario, on the eastern edge of the Greater Toronto Area. It opened in 2003 as the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, a provincially created STEM-focused institution, and adopted the Ontario Tech University name in 2018. Graduate degrees include master's and doctorates in the STEM faculties, with a mix of coursework professional master's and thesis research. Supervision follows a North American committee model. The year is organized in semesters. Oshawa is a mid-sized industrial city; students split time between the north campus and downtown, with Toronto within commuting distance.
