About University of Nottingham Ningbo China
The University of Nottingham Ningbo China is a Sino-foreign university in Ningbo, Zhejiang province. It opened in 2004 as the first Chinese campus of the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom, with independent legal status in China. It is a branch-campus institution that awards University of Nottingham degrees and teaches in English, rather than a Chinese public university organized under the ministry system alone.
Academic work is grouped in the Nottingham University Business School China, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the Faculty of Science and Engineering. Graduate students use British-style departments and research groups in international business, international studies, computer science, and engineering. The lakeside campus in Ningbo's higher-education zone holds laboratories, a library, and student residences.
About 8,000 students enroll, including a large share of Chinese students and international students from dozens of countries. Academic staff include faculty seconded from the United Kingdom and locally appointed researchers. Alumni work in multinational firms, Chinese government and industry, and further research in the United Kingdom and East Asia.
Graduate study follows the British model: taught master's degrees (M.Sc. and M.A.) and Ph.D. programs by research under a supervisor, with English as the working language. The year typically starts in autumn, aligned with Nottingham. Students live on a self-contained campus in Ningbo, a coastal manufacturing city south of Shanghai, with residences and labs on one site.
In the Grad School Navigator directory, University of Nottingham Ningbo China lists 1 master's program, in politics & international relations.
