About DAAD
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is Germany's national agency for international academic exchange, headquartered in Bonn. Founded in 1925 and re-established in 1950, it is a funding body rather than a campus university, with no faculties and no resident student body of its own.
It administers scholarships and partnership schemes that place master's and doctoral students at German universities and research institutes. Doctoral grants and bi-nationally supervised doctorates are hosted by those faculties, not taught as a DAAD curriculum.
The organization employs about 1,000 staff in Bonn, Berlin, and overseas offices. Award-holders stay enrolled at their host universities. Fellows later work as scientists, diplomats, and university teachers in many countries.
For graduate applicants, DAAD is a stipend and placement on the German semester calendar, with a supervisor at the host institution. There is no teaching campus in Bonn; students live in the university city where they are placed.
In the Grad School Navigator directory, DAAD lists 2 graduate programs in health & medical sciences, all of them doctoral programs.
