About Graz University of Technology
Graz University of Technology is a public technical university in Graz, Austria. It originated in 1811 as a Styrian school of science and developed into a Technische Universität. It is one of three members of TU Austria and is organized around engineering, natural sciences, and architecture rather than a full-spectrum faculty mix.
Seven faculties cover architecture; civil engineering; mechanical engineering; electrical and information engineering; computer science and biomedical engineering; technical chemistry; and mathematics, physics and geodesy. Strengths include production and automotive engineering, information technology, and materials. Students use NAWI Graz, a joint natural-sciences cooperation with the University of Graz, and laboratories on several city sites.
Enrollment is about 13,000 students, with many on consecutive master's and doctoral engineering tracks and a substantial international share from the European Union and Asia. Academic and research staff number in the low thousands. Alumni are concentrated in Austrian and Central European industry and engineering practice.
Doctoral study leads to a Dr. techn. or PhD under a supervisor, with a research thesis and limited coursework. Master's degrees follow the Bologna bachelor-plus-master pattern. The year runs in two semesters. Graz is Austria's second-largest city; campuses are urban, and living costs are lower than in Vienna.
In the Grad School Navigator directory, Graz University of Technology lists 1 doctoral program, in earth & environmental sciences.
