About HEC Paris

HEC Paris is a French grande école of business founded in 1881 by the Paris Chamber of Commerce. Its main campus is in Jouy-en-Josas, southwest of Paris, with additional sites in Paris and Doha. It is a specialist business school in the grande école system rather than a comprehensive public university.

Departments include finance, economics, strategy, accounting, marketing, operations and entrepreneurship. Students concentrate on the Master in Management, the MBA, specialized MSc degrees and a PhD. Research runs through faculty departments and centers in finance, economics and entrepreneurship; dual degrees link HEC with partner schools in law, public affairs and engineering.

The school enrolls about 4,000 to 5,000 students across degree programs. International students make up a large share of MBA and MSc cohorts, with dozens of nationalities in each class. Alumni include Kering chief executive François-Henri Pinault and former L'Oréal chief executive Jean-Paul Agon, as well as other European corporate leaders.

Signature degrees are the Master in Management, the MBA, one-year MSc programs, executive degrees and a research PhD. The grande école track mixes coursework, internships and a final project; the PhD follows coursework then a dissertation. Internships stretch study across the calendar year. Merit scholarships and company sponsorships support many MBA students; PhD candidates typically receive a stipend. Daily life is campus-based in Jouy-en-Josas, with rail access to Paris.

In the Grad School Navigator directory, HEC Paris lists 20 graduate programs across 8 subjects: 15 master's programs and 3 doctoral programs, with the widest choice in business & management, finance & financial economics and accounting.
