About INSEAD
INSEAD is a private graduate business school founded in 1957 at Fontainebleau, south of Paris, France. It later opened campuses in Singapore in 2000 and in Abu Dhabi. It is a specialist management institute with no undergraduate college, created with French business support and early ties to Harvard Business School to offer a one-year European MBA.
The school offers the MBA, Global Executive MBA, specialized master's degrees in areas such as finance and management, and a PhD in Management. Research groups cover economics, entrepreneurship, organizational behavior, and strategy. Teaching is in English on all campuses.
On the order of 1,000 MBA students enroll each year across campuses, plus executive and doctoral cohorts. More than 90 percent of the MBA class is international, with no nationality in the majority and typically students from more than 70 countries. The resident faculty numbers about 250, and the alumni network exceeds 60,000. Alumni include banker Tidjane Thiam and L'Oréal executive Lindsay Owen-Jones.
Graduate study is defined by the intensive one-year MBA, with September and January intakes, and by a full-time PhD aimed at academic careers. The PhD is normally funded; MBA students rely on savings, loans, and company sponsorship. Fontainebleau is a forest town with a compact campus; students live in town or nearby and travel to Paris on weekends. Singapore and Abu Dhabi cohorts follow the same MBA model in those cities.
In the Grad School Navigator directory, INSEAD lists 6 graduate programs across 3 subjects: 2 master's programs and 3 doctoral programs, with the widest choice in business & management and biology.
