About Paris School of Economics
The Paris School of Economics is a specialist graduate institute of economics in Paris, founded in 2006 as a foundation linking economists from the Ecole normale superieure, EHESS, Ecole des ponts, the CNRS, and Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne. It occupies the Jourdan campus at 48 boulevard Jourdan in the 14th arrondissement. It is a single-field research school rather than a comprehensive university.
Work is organized through master's tracks and a doctoral program, with research groups in development, labor, public economics, economic history, trade, and theory. The school is known for empirical public economics and development. Students join the Paris Jourdan research community of PSE chairs and affiliated CNRS and EHESS teams, using seminars and visitor programs as the main research infrastructure.
The community numbers a few hundred master's and doctoral students and about 150 faculty and affiliates. International students form a large share of graduate intake and come from many countries. Faculty include Thomas Piketty, known for research on income and wealth, and Philippe Aghion, who works on growth and innovation, alongside economists holding joint posts with ENS, EHESS, and Paris 1.
Graduate study is known for the Analysis and Policy in Economics and Public Policy and Development master's programs and for the Ph.D. in economics. Master's years are coursework-intensive; the doctorate is dissertation supervision. The calendar follows the French autumn-to-summer year. Support comes from doctoral contracts, CNRS posts, and ministry allocations. Students live in Paris and work on the compact Jourdan campus in the south of the city.
In the Grad School Navigator directory, Paris School of Economics lists 1 master's program, in economics.
