About University of Delyon

The University of Lyon (Université de Lyon), listed here as the University of Delyon, is the collegiate grouping of public universities and grandes écoles in Lyon and Saint-Étienne, France. The community of universities and institutions was set up in 2007 to coordinate research, doctoral training, and international programs across the Lyon site. Lyon has had university faculties since the nineteenth century; the present body is a federation of members, not a single-campus college.

Members include Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, Université Lumière Lyon 2, Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3, the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon, École Centrale de Lyon, INSA Lyon, and Sciences Po Lyon. Medicine and life sciences sit mainly at Lyon 1 and the associated hospitals; engineering at INSA and Centrale; humanities, law, and management at Lyon 2 and Lyon 3. Doctoral colleges and CNRS joint laboratories operate under the site's research structure.

Together the Lyon institutions enroll well over 100,000 students, with a large international share from Europe, Africa, and Asia. Faculty and researchers number in the thousands across the members. Scientists and public officials associated with the city were trained in the constituent schools rather than under a single university brand.

Graduate study follows the French licence-master-doctorate pattern: taught and research master's degrees and the doctorate through doctoral schools, with supervision in laboratories. The academic year runs from autumn to early summer. Many doctoral candidates hold a doctoral contract. Students live in Lyon, France's second-largest urban area, with campuses from the Rhône-Saône peninsula to La Doua in Villeurbanne and a cluster in Saint-Étienne.

In the Grad School Navigator directory, University of Delyon lists 1 master's program, in mathematics.
