About University of Toulouse

The University of Toulouse traces its foundation to 1229, when a studium was established in the city after the Albigensian Crusade. After the French university reform of 1968–1970 it was divided into Toulouse 1 Capitole (law, economics, management), Toulouse 2 Jean Jaurès (arts, humanities, languages), and Toulouse 3 Paul Sabatier (science, health, technology), with affiliated grandes écoles. A federal University of Toulouse later regrouped those bodies in the Occitanie capital.

Graduate strengths follow that split: law, economics, and management at Capitole; humanities and social sciences at Jean Jaurès; mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science, earth sciences, and medicine at Paul Sabatier. The aerospace cluster around Airbus, CNES, ONERA, and ISAE-SUPAERO feeds engineering and space-science doctoral work. University hospitals and CNRS laboratories host science and medical graduate students.

The wider Toulouse higher-education site enrolls on the order of 100,000 students, with a substantial international population from Europe, Africa, and Latin America. Faculty across the site number in the thousands. Chemist Paul Sabatier, a Nobel laureate, taught in Toulouse; alumni work in French administration and aerospace.

Graduate degrees follow the licence-master-doctorate structure, with master’s and doctoral awards plus engineering diplomas from the grandes écoles. Doctoral work is organized in doctoral schools with thesis supervision and some coursework. The calendar is the French university year from autumn to spring. Students live across Toulouse, a large city on the Garonne, traveling among scattered campuses.

In the Grad School Navigator directory, University of Toulouse lists 1 master's program, in mathematics.
