About Université de Toulon
The University of Toulon is a public French university on the Mediterranean coast, with main sites in Toulon, La Garde, and La Valette-du-Var in the Var department. It began as a university center in 1968, gained full university status in 1979, and has used the name Université de Toulon since 2013. It is a mid-sized multidisciplinary university whose defining fact is a naval-port setting and a marine and engineering orientation.
Faculties and institutes cover law, economics and management, letters and human sciences, science and technology, sport, university institutes of technology, and the SeaTech engineering school. Graduate work is strongest in marine and coastal science, materials, electronics, public law, and management. SeaTech and the university's marine research units are the laboratories that matter most to science and engineering graduate students.
Enrollment is about 10,000 students, with a modest graduate share and an international intake from Europe, North Africa, and the wider Mediterranean. Academic staff number in the several hundreds. Alumni are concentrated in regional law, naval and maritime industry, teaching, and public administration.
Master's degrees follow the French licence-master-doctorat cycle; doctorates are prepared in doctoral schools, some shared with other universities in the region. The calendar is the French two-semester year. Funding for doctorates is typically a doctoral contract. Students divide their time between Toulon and inland campuses at La Garde, in a mid-sized naval city with Marseille and Nice within regional reach.
In the Grad School Navigator directory, Université de Toulon lists 1 master's program, in computer science.
