About Arts University Bournemouth

Arts University Bournemouth is a specialist public arts university in Poole, Dorset, with origins in the Bournemouth Government School of Art of 1883. It gained university title in 2012 after operating as an art college and as the Arts Institute at Bournemouth. The Wallisdown campus is a dedicated arts and making site rather than a multi-faculty civic university.

Courses concentrate on film, animation, acting, fashion, graphic design, architecture, photography, and modelmaking. Production facilities for live-action and animation, together with making workshops, support taught postgraduate work. Graduate emphasis sits in moving image, costume, and design crafts.

Enrollment is about 4,000, mostly undergraduates, with a smaller master's population and international students from more than 50 countries. Staff are practitioner-teachers. Graduates enter British film, television, and fashion rather than a long roster of household-name alumni.

Taught master's degrees dominate, with studio projects and a dissertation or major production rather than a doctoral path as the main route. The year follows standard UK semesters. Bursaries exist; many master's students are self-funded. The campus is suburban Poole, with Bournemouth's coast and a regional screen-production cluster as the daily setting.

In the Grad School Navigator directory, Arts University Bournemouth lists 1 master's program.
