About Bournemouth University

Bournemouth University is a public university whose main Talbot Campus sits in Poole, Dorset, beside Bournemouth. It grew from municipal and polytechnic colleges and received university status in 1992. It is a campus university with a professional-practice mission, especially in media, health, and tourism, rather than a collegiate or conservatoire structure.

Academic structure groups media and communication, science and technology, health and social sciences, and management. The Faculty of Media and Communication and the National Centre for Computer Animation are the units graduate students in film, journalism, and animation encounter first. Health programs use clinical skills facilities, and research centers in archaeology, conflict, and environment sit alongside media labs and animation studios.

About 18,000 students study there, including several thousand postgraduates and a large international intake from many countries. Academic staff number about 1,000. Alumni include broadcasters Alice Levine and Iain Lee, and a long line of computer-animation graduates who work in British and international visual-effects studios.

Graduate study is mainly taught master's with a dissertation or production project, plus research degrees in media, health, and science. Teaching mixes studio production, placement, and seminars. The year follows the UK semester calendar. Funding includes university scholarships and industry-linked awards, especially in media and animation. Daily life is a suburban campus in Poole, with Bournemouth's seafront and media employers a short trip away.

In the Grad School Navigator directory, Bournemouth University lists 2 graduate programs, all of them master's programs.
