Bristol Old Vic Theatre School

Bristol Old Vic Theatre School was founded in 1946 by Hugh Hunt in association with the Bristol Old Vic theatre company. It is an independent drama conservatoire in Bristol, England, occupying teaching and theatre buildings in Clifton, and it trains actors and theatre production staff rather than running a general university.

Programs cover acting and the technical and production arts, including stage management, design, costume and related crafts. Students rehearse and perform in school theatres and in work tied to professional companies in the city.

The school is small, with a few hundred students in total and a limited postgraduate intake. Alumni include Daniel Day-Lewis, Jeremy Irons and Olivia Colman. Most students are from the United Kingdom, with a smaller international group.
