About Glasgow Caledonian University
Glasgow Caledonian University is a public university in Glasgow, Scotland, formed in 1993 by the merger of Glasgow Polytechnic and The Queen's College, Glasgow. It is known for nursing, physiotherapy, optometry, social work, and fashion through the British School of Fashion. Research groups address public health, social innovation, and the built environment.
About 20,000 students enroll, including a large taught postgraduate population and international students from Europe, Africa, South Asia, and China. Academic staff number in the high hundreds. Alumni are concentrated in the National Health Service, Scottish public services, and allied health professions.
Graduate study is mainly taught master's degrees and professional qualifications, with a smaller set of research degrees, on a two-semester academic year.
