About Middlesex University

Middlesex University is a public university in London, with its principal campus at Hendon in the borough of Barnet. It gained university status in 1992, succeeding Middlesex Polytechnic, which had been formed in 1973 by merging teacher-training, art, and technical colleges. Those predecessor schools include nineteenth-century institutions such as Hornsey College of Art. The university is a post-1992 London institution with a single main campus rather than a collegiate federal structure.

Teaching and research are grouped in faculties covering arts and creative industries, business and law, health and education, and science and technology. Fields with a long Middlesex identity include art and design, performing arts, business, law, and nursing and other health professions. The Hendon campus holds studios, laboratories, and a large library. The university has also operated overseas campuses, including in Dubai.

Enrollment is about 19,000 students, with a substantial international share drawn from well over 100 countries and a graduate population in taught master's and research degrees. Faculty number in the low thousands across the Hendon site. Notable alumni include comedian Alan Carr and, through predecessor Hornsey College of Art, sculptor Anish Kapoor.

Graduate study is dominated by taught master's degrees, MBAs, and professional doctorates, with PhD study in the faculties. The academic year follows the UK autumn-start calendar. Funding is the usual mix of UK research councils, employer sponsorship, and university scholarships rather than a collegiate bursary system. Students work at Hendon and use local housing in north-west London.

In the Grad School Navigator directory, Middlesex University lists 1 master's program.
