About University of Bedfordshire
The University of Bedfordshire is a public university in England with principal campuses in Luton and Bedford. It was created in 2006 from the University of Luton and the Bedford campus of De Montfort University; Luton had held university title since 1993 and older technical-college roots. It is a modern university with an applied and professional mission rather than a collegiate or highly research-intensive structure.
Academic organization is by faculties covering creative arts, technologies and science; education and sport; health and social sciences; and business. Graduate provision is strongest in business, computing and cybersecurity, nursing and health, education, media, and sport science at Bedford. Research groups exist in health, education, and applied social science on a smaller scale than at older civic universities.
Enrollment is about 16,000 students, with a large share of international students on taught master's courses in Luton and many UK students from the region. Graduate students are mostly on one-year taught master's programs. Faculty numbers are in the several hundreds. Alumni work in nursing, teaching, local government, and business in the South Midlands and on the London fringe.
Graduate degrees are mainly MA, MSc, MBA, and professional doctorates such as the EdD, plus PhD by research. Taught master's programs are coursework-heavy with a dissertation; research degrees follow standard UK supervision. The calendar is the English academic year. Some scholarships exist, but many master's students are self-funded. Luton is a large town on the M1 north of London; Bedford is a quieter county town, so graduate life splits between a commuter international campus and a more residential education and sport site.
In the Grad School Navigator directory, University of Bedfordshire lists 1 master's program, in computer science.
