About University of East London
The University of East London is a public university in east London, England. It traces to the West Ham Technical Institute of 1898, later North East London Polytechnic and the Polytechnic of East London, and received university status in 1992. Its main teaching sites are the Docklands campus, opened in 1999 on the Royal Docks, and the Stratford campus beside Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
It is organized in schools of architecture, computing and engineering, arts and creative industries, business and law, education, health, sport and bioscience, and psychology. The profile is applied and professional. Docklands holds subject buildings along the dock; Stratford serves education, health, and related fields next to the Olympic Park.
Enrollment is about 17,000 to 19,000 students, with a high share of mature, commuting, and international students from many countries. Academic staff number in the hundreds. Alumni are concentrated in London public services, education, and the creative industries.
Graduate study is mainly taught master's degrees, professional doctorates, and Ph.D.s by research. Coursework master's programs are the usual path for international students; doctoral work follows a supervisor in a school. The year is two semesters. Students typically rent in east London or commute; Docklands sits on the DLR next to London City Airport, so graduate life is urban and commuter-based rather than collegiate.
In the Grad School Navigator directory, University of East London lists 1 master's program.
