About Reykjavík University
Reykjavik University is a private university in Reykjavik, Iceland, established in 1998 and later merged with the Technical University of Iceland. It sits on a purpose-built campus at Nautholsvik, beside the geothermal beach and Reykjavik Airport. Unlike the older University of Iceland (1911), it was created as a professionally oriented institution focused on technology, business, and law rather than as a full classical faculty university.
Five schools cover science and engineering, computer science, business, law, and social sciences. The university is known for computer science, software engineering, business, and law, and for applied work with Icelandic industry in energy and fisheries technology. Graduate students use campus laboratories and industry projects; there is no university hospital on site.
Enrollment is about 3,500 to 4,000 students, with a rising graduate share. International students are a visible minority, and English-taught master's programs draw students from many European countries and farther afield. Faculty number a few hundred. Alumni are concentrated in Icelandic software firms, banks, law offices, and public agencies from the university's first graduating classes in the 2000s.
Graduate study includes master's degrees in computer science, engineering, business, and law, plus doctoral work in science and engineering. The model mixes coursework, thesis supervision, and industry projects. The academic year runs from autumn to spring. Research grants and campus employment support some graduate students. Daily life is a compact waterfront campus in Reykjavik, with the city and the Nautholsvik shoreline as the immediate setting.
In the Grad School Navigator directory, Reykjavík University lists 1 master's program, in computer science.
