About Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance
The Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance (EIEF) is a research institute in Rome created in 2008 by the Bank of Italy and named for economist and former Italian president Luigi Einaudi. It grew out of the Bank's need for an independent academic center in economics and finance. It is a specialist institute, not a multi-faculty university.
Work concentrates on macroeconomics, applied microeconomics, finance, and econometrics. The institute runs a seminar series, hosts visiting researchers, and collaborates with the Bank of Italy's research department. It does not operate hospitals or engineering labs; the relevant setting is a small research building in central Rome.
The community is a few dozen resident researchers, graduate students, and visitors rather than a mass student body. International visitors are common, and instruction is in English. Luigi Einaudi is the namesake; the institute's own alumni pool is still short and concentrated in central banking, academia, and finance.
Graduate teaching includes a master's in economics, often known as the Rome Masters in Economics, and research training that feeds doctoral work, with a U.S.-style coursework-plus-paper model and close supervision. The calendar follows the European academic year. Funding often comes through Bank of Italy and institute scholarships. Students work in central Rome, close to Italian policy institutions.
In the Grad School Navigator directory, Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance lists 1 master's program, in economics.
