About Baruch College - The City University of New York (CUNY)

Baruch College is a senior college of the City University of New York, occupying a vertical campus in Manhattan around Lexington Avenue and 24th Street. It began in 1919 as City College's School of Business and Civic Administration and became an independent CUNY college in 1968, named for financier Bernard Baruch. It is an urban specialist college built around business, public affairs, and arts and sciences rather than a residential research campus.

Three schools structure graduate work: the Zicklin School of Business, the Austin W. Marxe School of Public and International Affairs, and the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences. Zicklin is the center for the MBA, specialized master's degrees, and business doctorates. Marxe offers public administration and international affairs. Teaching and research concentrate on finance, accountancy, statistics, and urban public policy.

Baruch enrolls about 19,000 students, including several thousand in graduate programs. The student body is heavily commuter and among the most internationally mixed in the United States, with students from more than 160 countries. Faculty number several hundred. Alumni work mainly in finance, accounting, and New York public administration, including executives on Wall Street and officials in city government.

Graduate study is dominated by professional master's degrees such as the MBA, MS, and MPA, plus a limited set of PhDs, often in business fields and often in partnership with the CUNY Graduate Center. Evening coursework fits a commuter schedule. The calendar is CUNY's semester year. Many students work in the city while enrolled. The campus sits in the office district of midtown-south Manhattan.

In the Grad School Navigator directory, Baruch College - The City University of New York (CUNY) lists 7 graduate programs across 5 subjects: 5 master's programs and 2 doctoral programs, with the widest choice in accounting, finance & financial economics and financial engineering & quantitative finance.
