About Cornell Tech
Cornell Tech is Cornell University's graduate campus on Roosevelt Island in New York City. The project began in 2011 when the city selected Cornell, with Technion–Israel Institute of Technology as partner, to build an applied-science graduate campus; instruction moved to the island in 2017. It is a compact technical campus, not a full undergraduate college, devoted to computing, digital industry, and professional graduate training next to Manhattan.
Teaching and research concentrate on computer science, operations research and information engineering, connective media, and health technology, alongside the Johnson Cornell Tech MBA. Students work in the Bloomberg Center and Tata Innovation Center. The Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute sits on the same campus. Studio courses pair teams with companies, hospitals, and civic agencies in New York.
The campus enrolls on the order of 1,000 graduate students, with a large international share and no undergraduate college of its own. Faculty hold Cornell appointments. Graduates go mainly into software, product, and technology firms in New York rather than into a long list of historical alumni names; the campus is still young.
Graduate study is organized around one- and two-year master's degrees and an MBA, with heavy studio and project work rather than a large on-campus doctoral college. Supervision mixes course sequences with industry-facing team projects. The calendar follows Cornell's semester system. Students live on a small island campus with tram and subway access to Manhattan offices and labs.
In the Grad School Navigator directory, Cornell Tech lists 1 master's program, in computer science.
