About DePaul University
DePaul University is a private Catholic university in Chicago, founded in 1898 by the Vincentian priests of the Congregation of the Mission. It is the largest Catholic university in the United States by enrollment and operates two principal campuses: Lincoln Park on the North Side and the Loop campus downtown. It is a comprehensive urban university rather than a collegiate or land-grant institution.
Colleges include the Driehaus College of Business, the College of Computing and Digital Media, the College of Law, the College of Communication, the College of Education, the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, the College of Science and Health, the School of Music, and The Theatre School. Graduate students concentrate in business, computing, law, education, and the performing arts. The Loop campus places business, law, and computing next to Chicago’s professional districts.
Enrollment is about 21,000, with a large graduate and professional share and students from many U.S. states and dozens of countries. Full-time faculty number more than 800. Alumni include Chicago mayor Richard M. Daley and a long line of Theatre School actors and comedy writers.
Master’s and professional degrees, including the JD, MBA, and computing master’s, make up most of graduate enrollment. Programs are largely coursework-based with internships in the city. The calendar is a quarter system, which is distinctive among Chicago’s private universities. Graduate life is split between a residential Lincoln Park neighborhood and a downtown Loop campus used by working professionals.
In the Grad School Navigator directory, DePaul University lists 5 graduate programs across 5 subjects, all of them master's programs, with the widest choice in communication, media & journalism, computer science and finance & financial economics.
