About Texas A&M University

It is the flagship of the Texas A&M University System. The Corps of Cadets, a uniformed student military organization that still enrolls several thousand students, sits alongside the land-grant mission as the university's defining structural fact.

The Cyclotron Institute and agricultural experiment stations and veterinary hospitals are the main extra-departmental research settings for graduate students.
College Station enrolls more than 70,000 students, among the largest single-campus enrollments in the United States, with about 15,000 in graduate and professional programs and several thousand international students. Faculty number more than 4,000. Alumni include former U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, former Texas governor Rick Perry, and astronaut Michael Fossum.
