About University of Baltimore
The University of Baltimore is a public university in midtown Baltimore, Maryland, and a member of the University System of Maryland. It was founded in 1925 to serve working students and remains a career-oriented urban institution on a compact downtown site rather than a residential land-grant campus. Professional and graduate education is its defining structural fact.
It has four divisions: the Yale Gordon College of Arts and Sciences, the Merrick School of Business, the School of Law, and the College of Public Affairs. Graduate work concentrates on law, business, criminal justice, public administration, and applied liberal arts. Law clinics and downtown Baltimore courts and agencies are the main professional training sites; the university does not operate its own teaching hospital.
Enrollment is about 3,000 students, with graduate and professional students forming the majority. Many students study part-time while employed in the Baltimore-Washington region. International enrollment is modest. Faculty numbers are in the low hundreds. Alumni include Maryland lawyers, judges, and public officials from the Baltimore bar and state government.
Graduate degrees include the JD, LL.M., MBA, and master's degrees in public administration and related fields, with a smaller set of professional doctorates. Teaching combines evening coursework with, in law, the standard American professional curriculum. The calendar is semester-based. Assistantships exist, but many students continue paid work. The campus sits in Baltimore's midtown cultural district, so graduate life is urban and commuter-oriented.
In the Grad School Navigator directory, University of Baltimore lists 1 master's program, in environmental design.
