About University of Washington Bothell
The University of Washington Bothell is a public campus of the University of Washington in Bothell, Washington, about 18 miles northeast of Seattle. It opened in 1990 as the system's first branch campus and shares a hillside site with Cascadia College. It was created to expand upper-division and graduate access in the north Puget Sound suburbs rather than to duplicate the Seattle research campus.
Five schools organize teaching: Business; Educational Studies; Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences; Nursing and Health Studies; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Graduate programs concentrate in business administration, education, nursing, and computing and software engineering. The campus includes restored wetlands used in environmental teaching.
Enrollment is about 6,000 students, most of them undergraduates; graduate students are a smaller share. The student body is largely from Washington State, with a smaller international contingent than the Seattle campus. Faculty number a few hundred. Alumni work mainly in Puget Sound business, schools, health systems, and technology firms.
Graduate study is coursework-heavy professional master's work rather than a large doctoral culture. Programs run on the quarter calendar used across the University of Washington. Many students commute from the Eastside and north King and Snohomish counties. The setting is a suburban campus above the Sammamish River, with wetlands and links to Seattle by highway and bus.
In the Grad School Navigator directory, University of Washington Bothell lists 1 master's program, in computer science.
