About Concordia University

Concordia University is an English-language public university in Montreal, Quebec. It keeps two campuses: Sir George Williams downtown and Loyola in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce.

Four faculties carry the teaching load: Arts and Science; Fine Arts; the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science; and the John Molson School of Business. Named research homes include the Milieux Institute for Arts, Culture and Technology, the Concordia Institute for Information Systems Engineering, and the PERFORM Centre.

Concordia enrolls about 47,000 students, of whom roughly 10,000 are graduate students. International students form about a fifth of enrollment and come from more than 150 countries. Faculty number in the low thousands. Notable alumni include musician Régine Chassagne, novelist Rawi Hage, and journalist Jan Wong.

Graduate study includes MA, MSc, MEng, MBA, and PhD degrees, combining coursework, co-op placements in engineering and business, and thesis supervision. The calendar uses fall and winter semesters plus a summer term. Support for research students comes from federal tri-council scholarships, Quebec awards, and assistantships. Most graduate students live in Montreal and move between the two campuses.
