Graduate Programs in Mechanical Engineering
Explore 400+ Mechanical Engineering graduate programs at 150+ universities across 11 countries.
Overview
Mechanical engineering applies physics and materials science to the design of machines and energy systems. Graduate study spans solid mechanics, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, dynamics and control, manufacturing and robotics, with extensive use of computer modeling and experimental work.
A master's opens advanced design and analysis roles, with thesis and coursework options. A PhD prepares you to lead research on new technologies in university, government and corporate laboratories.
Graduates work as design engineers, thermal and fluids engineers, robotics and controls engineers, manufacturing engineers and simulation specialists. Automotive and electric vehicle makers, aerospace and defense, energy and medical device companies are strong employers.
Most Mechanical Engineering programs charge between $18,000 and $67,000 a year in tuition. The top ten ranked programs charge between $15,000 and $74,000.
