About Tufts University
Tufts University is a private research university founded in 1852 in Medford, Massachusetts, with additional campuses in Boston and Grafton. It grew from a liberal arts college into a research university with professional schools of medicine, dental medicine, veterinary medicine, nutrition, and diplomacy. The Medford and Somerville hill campus remains the center for undergraduate study and for many arts-and-sciences graduate programs.

International affairs concentrates at Fletcher; nutrition and veterinary medicine are school-specific. Boston hospitals and the Grafton veterinary campus serve clinical degrees.
Tufts enrolls about 13,000 students, split nearly evenly between undergraduate and graduate and professional students. International students account for roughly 15 to 20 percent. Faculty number about 1,500 across campuses. Notable alumni include eBay founder Pierre Omidyar, JPMorgan Chase chief executive Jamie Dimon, and diplomat Bill Richardson, a Fletcher graduate.
Graduate degrees include the Ph.D., M.A., M.S., the M.A.L.D. at Fletcher, D.V.M., M.D., and D.M.D. Fletcher uses a professional curriculum with language and regional work; research doctorates combine coursework and supervision.
