Graduate Programs in Biomedical Engineering
Explore 300+ Biomedical Engineering graduate programs at 100+ universities across 11 countries.
Overview
Biomedical engineering applies engineering methods to medicine and biology. Graduate students work on medical devices, imaging, biomaterials, tissue engineering, biomechanics and computational modeling, often in close partnership with hospitals and life science researchers.
A master's can be a research degree or a professional program focused on device design and regulation. A PhD prepares you to lead research in universities, research hospitals and industry, and some graduates combine it with medical training.
Graduates become medical device engineers, clinical engineers, regulatory affairs specialists, imaging scientists and biomechanics researchers. Medical technology companies, hospitals and pharmaceutical firms are the main employers, with growing hiring in wearable devices, neurotechnology and medical imaging.
Most Biomedical Engineering programs charge between $18,000 and $68,000 a year in tuition. The top ten ranked programs charge between $33,000 and $69,000.
